Astrid is a track & field athlete. Astrid is an overseas based athlete who competes at the national collegiate athletic association level as well as representing Barbados at the national junior level. Aside from her athletic abilities, her talent led her to participate in the Miss Black El Paso, Texas in 1998.
Astrid is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 137 pounds. She thought that participating in the competition would be an interesting undertaking and an exciting physical challenge.
She intends to persue a Doctorate in International Relations at Florida International University & her most prized posessions are her collection of stuffed animals.
Astrid has a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Texas and is the Western Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference athelete 5 years consecutively.
She entered the competition to gain more confidence & self disipline & believes that a role model should "be a focused person, who is honest with themselves and has a good spiritual footing."
Her family supports her in anything that she decides to do as long as it fits within established, moral parameters.
