Island Fitness Pageant

Astrid brings to the stage her athletic ability, which she exhibits through track & field. Astrid was an overseas-based athlete who competed at the National Collegiate Athletic Association level as well as represented Barbados at the junior level. Aside from her athletic abilities, her talent led her to participate in the Miss Black El Paso, Texas in 1998 and the Miss Island Fitness Pageant in 2002 and again in 2003.

Astrid is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 137 pounds. She thought that participating in the competition was an interesting undertaking and an exciting physical challenge.

Her transition from the track to the stage was mainly due to a desire for a challenge. Undertaking this challenge caused here to drastically improve her time management skills.

Astrid has a MSc in Public Administration from the University of Texas and is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in International Relations.

She believes that a role model should "be a focused person, who is honest with themselves and others and not be afraid to fail whilst striving for ultimate success."

Her family supports her in anything that she decides to do as long as it fits within established, moral parameters.
