Tamara is sponsored by Kellogg's special k. She is 26 years old weighs 122 pounds and stands 5 feet 3 inches, if asked what she does for a living she responds proudly "I mould minds" - Tamara is a Teacher by profession. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and would like in the future to work in forensics.
She is a first time competitor and thinks that the competition is a great way to help each competitor to be a well-rounded individual. She hopes to raise her level of fitness and raise her self-esteem.
Tamara started running and training in 2003 because she thought she was "too fat and unfit". Her love for running propelled her within the last two years, to run in the, Sagicor Run for Life, Run Barbados 10k, Holetown 10k, Oistins 10k and other various internal gym runs. She hopes to maintain and surpass her current level of fitness and help others in doing so by becoming a personal trainer.
Tamara thinks a role model should be someone who is transparent, whereby willing to be open. This person should inspire others to be what they desire to be but by being realistic about life and its challenges.
Her sister and friends are proud of her and support her, they have kept her focussed and made sure she has stuck to her goals while even offering to hold her hands when she wanted to give up.
