About Us

Island Fitness Pageant

Island Fitness Pageant
The Island Fitness Pageant is produced by N.R.G productions, with a stern focus on the athletic, dance and gymnastic skills of individuals. The pageant seeks to empower all with visual examples of the benefits of good health practices, while providing an excellent platform for the social and professional development of our competitors.Started in 2002, the pageant has progressively improved producing new fitness atheletes every year, who have used this experience to change their lives, in diet, exercise and even in choice of profession. The pageant has been one of the most consistent pageants in Barbados, with the biggest field of fitness competitiors in any fitness related competition. This competition is in no way associated with any body building , and lean femine bodies are embraced, as excessive muscular development is prohibited. The pageant is open to competitors 18 years and above, and competitors are expected to compete on Finals night in Routine, Swimwear and Question and Answer. (See Judging Criteria)From September of the previous year, competitors start their journey towards the June competition, completing their assessments protocols for documentation of their progress throughout the competition, training sessions which include beach training and gymnastics, among other things.The competitors also compete in internal challenges created for fun and exercise, In past years these have included :NRG Fitness Consultants Beach Training ChallengeSpin ChallengePole Fitness ChallengePush Up ChallengeThe L&N Workshop ChallengeThe Island Fitness Pageant is an exhilarating and fulfilling experience, with the culmination of a glorious show every year.

The Island Fitness Teen Pageant
The Island Fitness Teen Pageant is also produced by N.R.G productions, with a stern focus on the athletic, dance and gymnastic skills of individuals. The pageant seeks to empower all with visual examples of the benefits of good health practices, while providing an excellent platform for the social and professional development of our competitors.Started in 2009 the pageant has targeted competitors between the ages of 14 and 17, creating an atmosphere of fun, and a new way to get fit for the young girls of societyThis pageant is patterned in the same format as the adult pageant however a greater focus is made on healthy eating habits at home and in school and the need to be active from an early age. Additonal sessions of Self-Esteem and Public Speaking form part of the competitors preparation as the development of the young minds of our society is also a focus of the pageant.

Judging Criteria

JUDGING CRITERIA
Fitness Round 40% of ScoreJudges look for high-energy routines that demonstrate athletic co-ordination, style, personality and overall performance. Routines may include dance, gymnastics, cheer, aerobics, fitness and/or other displays of exceptional athletic talent. Contestants should demonstrate flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, strength, creativity and showmanship. However, there are no specific athletic or strength moves required. Only the athletic skills in which a contestant has experience should be incorporated Costumes will be judged as well during the Fitness Round, so special attentions should be given. No G-string or thong-type costumes may be worn unless athletic apparel or tights are worn underneath, and tennis shoes or athletic shoes must be worn. Props are allowed but must be approved by pageant officials at least two weeks in advance of the performance. Routines may not exceed two minutes and once begun cannot be repeated. Music must be professional recorded for maximum performance and audience & judges impression.Execution & Performance 40%Creativity 30%Appearance 30%Swimsuit Round 40% of ScoreJudges will analyse body shape, tone, symmetry, complexion, poise, presentation and overall condition. Also they will be looking for fit, toned feminine bodies that display proper conditioning. The Fitness Pageant is not associated with any bodybuilding organisation. Therefore, physical definition and excessive muscular development will be penalized. Contestants will be judged individually and in-group comparisons. G-sting or thong type swimsuits are prohibited.Overall appearance 40%Body Condition 30%Femininity 30%Interview Round 20 % of ScoreEach contestant will answer a question regarding her background, outlook about various aspects of life and attitudes concerning health and fitness lifestyles. Spontaneous answers must be given. Judges will be looking for articulate, concise, intelligent and thought proving responses.
